Vince Rule—Bass

I started playing saxophone & drums in the elementary school band in 1971. I began songwriting & playing bass in 1982. I was front man for 'The Grumps', and have toured Europe, Canada & North America with bands such as 'The B&N Café', ' Lost Perots', 'Shwagnatta', 'The Jaguars', and 'The Robbi Spencer Project' just to name a few. I've been singing since school choir at age 9. I now enjoy producing & engineering at Psycho Studio Records in Grass Valley,Ca.

My rig is a SWR SM400S Professional Series Amp that I run with a Furman PL Series Power Conditioner/Stage Tuner/Rig Light. It all goes through a 30 band; laser trimmed fully integrated stereo EQ to give me plenty of headroom to adjust to any room or outdoor venue. My speaker cabinet is a SWR Goliath series III 4x4 Cabinet. For outdoor gigs, and larger venues I bi-amp a custom 15" JBL D140F Bass Sub-woofer. And I must say, I never need more power or clarity of sound!

I play numerous bass guitars depending on the gig. Most of them are modified. My primary guitar is a straight up Fender Jazz Bass. I use EMG active pick-ups in a Fender P-Bass as well as a Aria Pro Jazz bass. I like the jazz bass for the easy to play, slender neck. I also use a Hofner-style hollow body violin bass (like McCartney's). Epiphone and Ibanez. All modified necks, pick-ups & electronics. Just a compressor/limiter to top it off. Ass kick'in , Heart-thumping Rock-n-Bass served straight up!!

I replaced Remley's original bassist Joe Baum in 2007.
